our process
The main goal of flower preservation is to remove all moisture from the flowers. This can be by pressing the flowers, using silica gel, or many other forms of preservation.
Our main 2 include:
Pressing: we have multiple handmade presses which include wooden planks with bolts. inside the press, there are layers of paper and cardboard. each flower is carefully pressed between these layers. Most flowers are actually deconstructed, put in the press and then reconstructed after they are dried. this helps cut down on the moisture in the paper. This process can take months depending on size of the flower. The papers need to be changed frequently.
Silica Gel: Silica gel is made from silicon dioxide - a compound naturally found in sand - and has small particles that can absorb large amounts of water.
Using large amounts of this in plastic containers is how the flowers are dried. Each flower head is cut from its stem, placed in the container, covered fully in silica, sealed tight from outside moisture, and placed away for a month+. The silica will then change color to show that is has absorbed the moisture & the flowers are ready to be taken out. The gel can then be “recharged” by being heated up to release the moisture that is being held in.
Color changing + Correction
Pressed flowers lose color over time because of a few natural processes:
1. Light exposure (especially UV).
Sunlight breaks down the pigments in petals and leaves. Even indoor light can slowly fade them.
2. Oxidation.
Air causes pigments—especially reds, pinks, and purples—to oxidize, shifting them to browns or yellows.
3. Moisture changes.
Even though the flowers are pressed, small amounts of moisture or humidity can continue to break down color molecules.
4. Natural pigment instability.
Some pigments, like anthocyanins (found in most pink, red, purple flowers), are naturally unstable once removed from a living plant. They’re very sensitive to pH, heat, and light.
5. Heat.
Higher temperatures speed up all the fading processes.
Note: this is natural. You will still have your flowers forever- no matter their color.
to help prevent changing, we offer color correction. This is where we take small amounts of paint and add them to your flowers, mimicking their original color.
** We do not offer returns/ refunds unless your product is damaged. **

Here you will find our selection of handmade frames. Pictured are the most popular for 8x10 & 16x20.
We do offer a small collection of metal frames as well. If you do not see a color you like we can color match to make the perfect frame to match your already existing decor!
Starting 2026, we have upgraded all of our glass to have a UV resistance to help protect the colors of your flowers for a longer period of time.
